J.Walters & Co. Antique Ivory Handled Knife

Antique knife with ivory handle beautifully crafted by J. Walters & Co. Manufacture date is before 1852 at 7 Carver Street in Sheffield, as J. Walters & Co. relocated to the former Globe Works Factory in 1852.
Knife appears to be carbon steel set in ivory with a single pin. Handle is very well secured.

The condition is fair/good; the blade has some oxidization, pitting and a few bends; however, this is a rare collectors piece.

Blade is stamped : J Walter 7 Carver St Sheffield
Knife measures 10 1/8"

Blade is approx. 6" x 5/8"

The only other one I have found is in a Museum Collection in B.C., Canada
Also check out some antique J. Walters advertising, the cards are third down on the list!

  1. Might there interest in ivory handled knives similar to the J Walter knife on this page but with rounded ends of the handles? 6 knives each has vertical crack on one side of the handle. Blade is stamped "1884 J. Rubbell & Co. 12"

  2. There were times the pieces looked carved and times they looked shredded. An investment in a carving knife might not have been a bad idea.check out this site

  3. You can even combine the modern pieces with antique pieces in one item. For example, you can have ornate legs plucked under the modern glass dining table top antique set
